Gary McCord Shares Golf Grip Tips in New Lamkin Videos

Golf analyst and author Gary McCord, whose irreverent and self-deprecating style has earned him fans worldwide, has recorded a four-part video series designed to help players maximize Lamkin Grips’ new Performance Plus 3GEN Wedge golf grip. The witty and knowledgeable Champions Tour player loaned his expertise to Lamkin’s online education program that breaks down wedge play into quick, easy to understand lessons.

Comparing club shafts to pencils and hammers, McCord demonstrates how users gain greater control the further they choke down on whatever is in their grasp. By adding an inch to its grip length and maintaining a wider grip base, McCord shows viewers how Lamkin’s new Wedge Grip promotes a choked down grip to improve short-game play.  Throughout the video series, McCord also elaborates on concepts including hand action, swing power, grip size, as well as the differences between soft and firm grips (and when to use which).  Lamkin’s new video series featuring Gary McCord can be seen on the company’s channel at www.YouTube.com/lamkingrips.

TaylorMade Selects Lamkin Grips to Enhance New ATV Wedge Performance

A radically advanced wedge club deserves a radically advanced grip. So when selecting the grip that best complements TaylorMade’s ATV (All-Terrain Versatility) Wedge, the company chose Lamkin’s new Performance Plus  Wedge Grip.  Constructed to improve short-game play, this Wedge Grip is one inch longer than standard grips and features a reduced taper, facilitating proper hand position and traction when choking down on the club.

“Golf equipment manufacturers take painstaking measures to deliver accuracy on the course, and grips are no exception,” explains Lamkin CEO Bob Lamkin.  “Just as TaylorMade designed the new ATV Wedge to perform during critical scoring shots, Lamkin’s Wedge Grip is designed to work seamlessly with the club ensuring maximum control and precision.”

TaylorMade’s ATV Wedge is masterfully engineered, and as such required a grip that could facilitate fairway, chip and bunker shots alike to maximize the club’s utility.  Taylor Made selected the Performance Plus Wedge Grip in black, with a traditional white TaylorMade logo, , to cap off its latest release. This first-of-its-kind wedge grip is crafted to promote proper hand position and tension needed to achieve better short-game results.

Lamkin Golf Grips Captures Win at 2012 Spanish Open

Congratulations the winner of the 2012 Open de Espaňa on his convincing victory this weekend.

Equipped with Lamkin Tour Black Full-Cord grips the winner had to face the worst of the wind and rain over the first 2 days of the tournament.  Making the most of the traction offered by his full-cord Lamkin grips, the eventual winner managed to stay in contention before carding a fantastic final round 65 to take him from a 4 shot deficit to a 3 shot victory.

The Lamkin Tour Black Full-Card grip is made with a soft rubber compound and a unique cord buffing process that offers a much less abrasive feel than traditional cord grips. While the feel of the grip is unusually soft, the Lamkin Tour Black Full-Cord still manages to deliver the traction and full cord functionality that cord players require.

Is The Wrong Size Grip Hurting Your Game? Probably

Industry experts estimate that more than 85% of golfers are probably using the wrong size grip.   If you’re using a stock grip (the grip that just so happened to come with your new clubs), then chances are really good it’s a “standard” size.   Imagine buying and wearing “standard” size shoes.  Crazy, right?   All golfers have different sized hands and fingers, so one “standard” size most definitely does not fit all golfers.  Using the wrong size grip can be extremely damaging to your game.   If you’re having trouble generating enough swing speed to hit the ball farther, or if you’re constantly pulling and slicing the ball, check your grip size before you do anything else.  Switching to properly sized grips might very well be the easiest and cheapest way to improve your golf game.  Click here for the full story on proper grip fitting.

LAMKIN SCORES ANOTHER 2012 PGA TOUR VICTORY

Congratulations to the winner of the WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral who uses the Lamkin Performance Plus 3GEN golf grips.  The come-from-behind victory was cemented with a birdie on the 14th that secured his lead.

The winner has now won two PGA Tour events using both the white and black Performance Plus 3GEN grips.  Featuring a reduced-taper profile, the grips are designed to control action and movement in the lower hand, resulting in more shot distance and control.   The grips are made with the patented 3GEN technology, a unique material advantage that provides the ultimate in shock absorption and tackiness.   In addition to being a favorite among Tour players, the Performance Plus 3GEN grip received the coveted Golf Digest Gold Medal in 2010.

THERE’S A GOOD CHANCE YOU’RE ALREADY PLAYING OUR GRIPS

Do you know what brand of grips you’re playing with? You’d be surprised how many people actually have Lamkin grips on their clubs yet don’t even know it. We’ve been providing grips to all the major club manufacturers for years. Chances are though, you won’t see the Lamkin logo on them. We’re hoping to see that change. And speaking of change, if you want to change your game, change your grips. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to feel like you have a set of new clubs. If you’re grips are worn, if you’ve played over 40 rounds with them, or if you’re holding on for dear life to prevent your hands from slipping, it’s time for new grips. Our 3GEN grips with patent pending technology stay tacky in all weather conditions–even snow. (Okay, we haven’t really tested them in snow, but be the first and let us know.)

LAMKIN GRIPS GOES BACK TO SCHOOL

At the San Diego Intercollegiate Classic this past weekend, the SMU Mustangs men’s golf team, aided by No. 6 player Aaron Stewart’s third-round 73, walked away with the title. But it was a first-time program executed by title sponsor Lamkin Grips that had participants and onlookers alike talking. With a prestigious field of 12 men’s collegiate teams competing at the nearby San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Lamkin Grips took advantage of the close proximity to company headquarters to introduce its latest college support program: providing free new golf grips to coaches of eligible Division I and II teams.

“It’s a chance for us to give something back to the players and coaches who work so hard to maintain the integrity of this great game,” said CEO Bob Lamkin.

Lamkin Grips believes in gender equality as well. The company’s latest initiative is also available to any eligible Division I and II women’s golf teams. Coaches interested in receiving new grips can select from any of Lamkin’s current market grips and then send their request directly to griprequest@lamkingrips.com.

Maintaining and upgrading one’s grips is a critical component for any competitive golfer’s game. And this past weekend’s San Diego Intercollegiate Classic, where local powers San Diego State (ranked No. 6 nationally) and the University of San Diego (No. 19) finish third and fourth, respectively, set the stage for an opportunity that only the folks at Lamkin Grips could provide.

“We’re always trying to educate golfers on the importance of regripping,” said Lamkin. “After 50-60 rounds, or about once a year for most golfers, clubs should be regripped. At the collegiate level, players are regripping much more often so providing free grips to their coaches is a great bonus!”
