In a game of inches, it doesn’t get much closer than the sudden-death playoff that unfolded on the 18th hole at the 81st Masters. With three straight birdies to finish the front 9, Justin Rose provided the worldwide audience a very exciting and dramatic ending to the beloved tournament. And it was during this very high-profile afternoon, that viewers around the world noticed a new grip on Rose’s putter. Known for being a technocrat with his game, he trusted the revolutionary FLAT CAT putter grip to secure his eventual second place finish.
With his new FLAT CAT Svelte putter grip, Rose sunk a 20-foot putt for a birdie during the first round, draining several more to finish 9-under 279 on Sunday. Rose has actually been on a long-putt sinking streak, with a dramatic 44 footer at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. This impressive putting performance and the distinctive look of the FLAT CAT putter grip, with the unique FLAT 1 technology, certainly has people talking…Oversized putter grips are known to be popular amongst Tour pros, but this putter grip takes a new direction and shape. With a rectangular box profile, you’re able to keep the putter square in your hands and square with the clubface to sink your putt.
This putter grip may change the conventional way of putting, but it doesn’t have to change your putting grip style. Each side of FLAT CAT is in a parallel plane with the putter face, allowing you to develop a personal feel with the face of your putter no matter the putting style--traditional, left-hand low, saw, or claw. Many noticed at the Master’s, Rose’s grip was installed non-traditionally with the logo face up. How does he still get results? Because at any installation angle, you’re able to find a parallel plane to put the same feeling of square in the palm of your hands.
What’s next for Justin after an incredible Master’s week? The gracious sportsman is just getting started… "For me, golf is about April to September. That's where the big tournaments are. That's where the tournaments that change your career are. So this is the first one of four. I feel motivated for the summer, and I will be moving on and setting goals very quickly after this," Rose said in an ESPN interview. With an Olympic gold medal last August, four Top 10 finishes to start the year, hot off an outstanding Masters performance, and putting with his new FLAT CAT grip, we don’t doubt it’s going to be a very exciting summer.
Snap, crackle, and pop. The famous cereal jingle isn’t a sound you want to hear during a round of golf, especially when it’s coming from your joints. For the millions affected by arthritis, it is unfortunately--a much too familiar struggle. And, the chronic pain and stiffness caused by arthritis can prompt an early (and unnecessary) retirement from their favorite sport. We’re happy to report that joint pain doesn’t have to mean the end of your game.
Pain, swelling, and limited movement are all symptoms of arthritis that, with over 100 different forms, can range greatly in severity and vary by diagnosis. But with each differing case, treatments to improve the chronic condition follow a similar protocol: take an anti-inflammatory to relieve pain, place heat or ice to reduce swelling, and engage in consistent exercise to preserve mobility. This is where your game comes back into play. Golf is an ideal activity for increasing strength, balance, coordination and improving range of motion, making your time on the course an important part of effectively treating your arthritis.
While playing golf may benefit your health, it likely doesn’t alleviate your discomfort. To make your game as comfortable as possible, start by rethinking your grip. For arthritis in your hands, you’ll benefit from a looser grip on your clubs. Try using an oversized grip on one club to get a better feel for this ‘open’ grip style. Lamkin also designed their Arthritic golf grip to help promote a looser, open hand position. It features a larger profile and a unique “nubbed” texture to encourage a light pressure grip, requiring less of a closed grasp around your clubs.
“Less arthritis pain, better feel!”, writes a recent golfer after switching to Lamkin’s Arthritic grip. The feedback is nearly unanimous, golfers with joint pain absolutely benefit from changing their grip. With Lamkin’s relentless focus on providing golfers with a more comfortable playing experience, this feedback is music to our ears…and certainly a much nicer sound than that old cereal jingle.
Is it possible David Bowie and Queen were singing about grip pressure in their iconic “Under Pressure” tune? Highly unlikely, but we recommend listening to the classic hit while reading the following blog just to get in the spirit. Playing yet? Good. Now let’s talk golf. Specifically, how one of the most important and often overlooked fundamentals of your game is THE IDEAL GRIP PRESSURE.
Why is slight grip pressure so important? How you grip your golf club is the first piece in a long, winding line of dominos. Too much grip tension tips over that first domino, leading to tension throughout your arms and shoulders, ultimately inhibiting momentum and reducing swing speed. Using the ideal light pressure grip is fundamental to maintaining swing consistency and control. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy. Intuitively, players use a tighter grip because it creates the feeling of greater control. Just try grabbing a club from someone with a tight grip. But, with golf grips, using lighter pressure allows you to release the club freely and with full extension, and a more fluid stroke that results in more distance and control.
And it all starts with your grip.
And this is exactly why Lamkin created the Z5 grip. With five functional grip ‘zones’, it was designed to give optimal feedback to different parts of your hands, giving you the feel of a solid grip connection with less pressure. Essentially, different parts of your fingers and hands perceive the sensation of touch very differently, so each zone was engineered to enhance the feel of confidence, control and comfort.
As counterintuitive as it may seem, trust us, LIGHTEN UP to play more confidently, consistently and more comfortably!
The 2017 PGA Season teed off this weekend at the Safeway Open in Napa, California. A redeeming 24 birdie performance by Brendan Steele claimed the season opener title and barrel trophy for his second PGA Tour victory. Steele secured his win with three consecutive birdies finishing 7-under 65 on the rain-soaked course gripping Crossline Full-Cord.
A golf grip tried and trusted for its outstanding all weather performance, the Crossline Full-Cord features the Tour preferred Crossline etched pattern paired with full-cord coverage for maximum control and traction. This exceptional high traction texture delivers slip-free confidence, proven to produce a victor in the most testing conditions. Made with our highly durable synthetic rubber compound that is built to last, we’re excited to see what this set brings this season.
Congratulations Brendan on an incredible win and start to the 2017 season!
In the game of inches, it took only one stroke to determine the winner of the Italian Open in Monza. Congratulations to the victor on his thrilling Sunday finale--hitting one eagle and five birdies for a near perfect round. It’s his second European Tour title that gives validation to the successful game strategy he demonstrates in every round. The champions’ choice of grip through each swing? R.E.L ACE.
The R.E.L ACE golf grip is made with Lamkin’s patented ACE 3GEN synthetic rubber compound. This ACE technology delivers long lasting surface tack and unmatched shock absorption for a Tour trusted performance grip. The light pattern adds enhanced comfort and provides maximum grip connection. Offered in golf’s widest assortment of color and size options, the R.E.L ACE is the ideal golf grip for a broad range of golfers.
The Tour trusted Crossline claims another victory at the KLM Dutch Open. Congratulations to the winner on a birdie filled performance (ten during the final round to be exact) finishing 8-under par. It’s his second win at the KLM Open, topped with a course-record 63 and a champagne celebration at The Dutch.
A golf grip preferred for its Tour performance, Crossline delivered maximum surface traction and outstanding torsion control through every swing for the Dutchman. The distinctive, densely-spaced surface pattern provides exceptional grip stability and additional grip traction for superior performance in all-weather conditions. Calculating over $200,000,000 in worldwide Tour earnings, there’s no wonder why Crossline grips have been a favorite among top players for nearly 20 years— the performance produced results.
Do you want to talk Crossline? Tweet us @LamkinGrips and Bob Lamkin will answer your questions during the next #AskBob Twitter Chat.
Of course everyone at Lamkin thinks the new Z5 grip is the most innovative and functionally advanced golf grip to hit the market in the last decade …but what do everyday golfers, just like you, think of the new Z5? These are excerpts from real reviews from real players, find out if they think Z5 is up to par:
“Ok 1 round on the grips complete and very impressed. I have tried Lamkin grips in the past (3 gen and UTX) and to me initially they felt good and tacky but were a little slippery at times and had some play in them. To me I like a grip to have traction/firm in the left hand and softer (still firm) in the right hand. This Z5 grip accomplishes that. I can tell by one round this grip will be durable and last...” GolfWRX Member
“The texture is SO much more comfortable than the NDMC. Cord without being sandpaper”, Hacker’s Paradise contributor.
A soft cord means you don’t have to choose between comfort and traction. You can have them both. But will the traction withstand humidity? One reviewer put Z5 to the ultimate test.
“I got a LOT of time with these today in high humidity and a LOT of heat for a LOOOOOT of swings. The top-hand/butt-section texture is very much reminiscent of the UTx, which I know surprises no one, but it’s again worth mentioning just how incredibly playable that texture/design/tech is as compared to pretty much every other corded grip out there. Even today in the heat and humidity while my hands were sweating profusely (I wore NO glove for all golf today to test the grips) and the amount of tack/control/grip in the top hand really shines…”
The UTx resemblance is no coincidence, we took a great grip and saw an opportunity to make it even better. Derived from our UTx ideology, the Z5 meets a new level of performance. And, no glove? No problem. Z5 is designed to only provide high-traction texture in specific, isolated areas while the rest of grip is designed for maximum comfort. UTx is a long-time favorite of the founder of Amateur Golf, but after trying Z5 he directs his attention to the details…
“From the first swing I knew the Z5 was a winner. At first appearance, there is a lot going on with multiple textures at various places on the grip. But the feel is really solid -- albeit softer than my other Lamkin favorite, the UTx. The Z5 also has a nice reminder "V" shape. I don't think you would want to slip it on backwards as you might be comfortable doing with your grips (or asking your clubfitter to do). Also, if you flip it upside down you're losing out on the design feature of the grip that provides your left hand with the extra protection it needs, especially in the thumb area. If you're like me, you'll appreciate the attention to detail the Lamkin letters have at the bottom of the grip, etched and paint filled against a white background giving them a sharp appearance. At the top there is some of the light string embedded in the main material that gives me the feeling it would work great with a rain or regular leather glove. The Z5 will most certainly appeal to the player that loves a combo cord/rubber type grip.”
We want to hear if you feel the Z5 difference. Tweet @lamkingrips with your review!
Equipped with Crossline Black grips, the winner of the 2016 John Deere Classic shot a bogey-free final round Sunday to claim his fifth career PGA TOUR title! Congratulations to the winner on an incredible round, closing four-under par for 67 with four birdies and eight pars. A variant of the 20 year Tour preferred Crossline, the Crossline Black features the favored distinctive, densely-spaced pattern to provide exceptional lateral traction and grip stability. The classic kicked off with severe weather and rain delays, giving this high traction golf grip the opportunity to prove its outstanding performance in all weather conditions, sealed with a sunny Sunday finish.
Made with Lamkin’s proprietary synthetic rubber compound, the Crossline Black is exceptionally durable. Another performance perk? Superior torsion control ensures greater shot consistency and control. It’s a grip that fuels confidence and produces winning titles. It’s trusted…it’s Crossline.
Lamkin scores two victories with wins in the US and Europe this weekend. Congratulations to the winner of the Travelers Championship on the PGA TOUR and to the AAM Paul Lawrie Match Play Champion, thousands of miles apart but together in trusting Lamkin.
This week’s PGA TOUR winner used UTx Cord to finish two -under 68 with a trying par on the 18th – bouncing into a bunker but recovering with a 12-foot put paired with a very memorable celebration on the green. Made with Lamkin’s Tri-Layer technology, the revolutionary grip takes all-weather performance and great-feeling playability to a new extreme. Designed for exceptional traction and comfort in any playing condition, UTx is especially popular among players for its proven consistency and unique feel.
At the AAM Paul Lawrie Match Play, a 1-up victory was claimed with the Tour preferred Crossline. A favorite among top players for over 20 years, proof found in the more than $200,000,000 worldwide Tour earnings, this Champion prefers the grip with a ribbed core. Designed with a distinctive, densely spaced surface pattern that provides exceptional surface traction and grip stability, an added internal rib in the reminder helps promote proper hand placement and shot consistency. The firmer grip material limits torsion and shot impact for greater control, further proving why Crossline has been a long-time favored grip on the course.
Golfers are known to be some of the most superstitious sportsmen, predominantly due to golf being such an unpredictable game. Players find self-assurance in what produces performance, having specifications with gear down to the smallest degree. For serious players, the particularity and specifications of their golf grips are of the utmost importance. The reasoning? Hands are all that connect the clubs to the body, the grip being the only piece of equipment you’re in contact with during the swing. A solid connection to the shot begins with a proper and consistent grip. One technique to ensure you have the correct hold... using a grip with a ribbed core.
A Ribbed or “Reminder” grip does just that, reminds the golfer where to properly set their hands and fingers on the club. This internal rib runs along the length of the grip, promoting consistent hand placement with every shot, where a round grip has a smooth core diameter. Having this steady placement on the club gives players the confidence needed to fuel performance. Bob Lamkin, President of Lamkin Grips, is a long-time user of the ribbed core:
“I’ve always preferred to place my hands on the grip the same time with every shot. With a reminder grip, I know I have the same hold and can curve the shot as necessary with body alignment as opposed to face angle. I’m constantly asked ‘why reminder over round’ and I always encourage golfers who haven’t used a reminder to experiment with a ribbed grip to feel the difference.”
Lamkin offers the industry’s widest assortment of reminder grips, including the tour preferred Crossline, Crossline Black, Crossline Full-Cord, REL ACE, Wrap-Tech and UTx.
So why doesn’t everyone play ribbed over round? A few factors keep round grips popular on the course: while club alignment is important with a driver, when it comes to wedges players often like to adjust either open or closed faced to direct the shot angle. The installment of the grip also takes more precision, having to be exact when positioning the rib on the shaft to prevent from causing a shifted grasp. Lastly, some simply haven’t remembered to try the reminder. Whether your grip is ribbed or round, it’s safe to say the “Golf Gods” will have the final word in your swing.
Congratulations to the winner of the Barbasol Championship this Sunday at Grand National. Taking home his 4th PGA Tour Champion title while sitting atop the Shots of the Week for his 24 foot putt. He closed the playoff at the top of the leaderboard with 5 under 66, gripping Crossline.
The Crossline grips have been a favorite among top players for nearly 20 years, proof found in the more than $200,000,000 and counting worldwide Tour earnings. Designed with a distinctive, densely spaced surface patter that provides exceptional surface traction and grip stability, an asset in the extreme heat and humidity at this championship. A firmer grip material limits torsion and shot impact for greater control and consistency, trustworthy with every swing.
Lamkin’s best-selling grip is offered in a wide variety of customization options, to fit you and your game.
If you haven’t yet heard, The 2016 British Open will probably be another wet and gusty one. This dicey forecast is something tour players and golf enthusiasts know to be a common occurrence of the British major. Returning to Royal Troon for the ninth time this Thursday, the course rests on the jagged western coast of Scotland and is to expect rain three out of the four tournament days, including a forecast of 30 mph winds on Saturday. This is all too familiar reflecting on the 2015 British Open at St. Andrews last year. The 2nd round starting with a three-plus hour rain delay, wind shifting balls by several feet on the green, ultimately pushing the final round to Monday where Zach Johnson took home the Claret Jug.
So how do players prepare for Mother Nature’s looming threat on their game? One way for certain is ensuring they have proper traction and a sturdy grip on their clubs. The Crossline and Crossline Full-Cord Grips are a favorite among top professionals and Tour players for this exact purpose—Brandt Snedeker having his own special model. The Crossline pattern was created to deliver maximum control and shot feedback. Its distinctive design has a densely-spaced surface pattern that offers slip-free confidence even in the most “British Open” of weather conditions. The Crossline Full-Cord grip takes high traction performance to the extreme with an added layer of durable cotton cord for maximum grip control.
While the Crossline keeps your grip in place assisting a straight shot down the fairway, the Deep-Etched Full-Cord Putter Grip will take care of you on the green. Designed and constructed with a heavy cord weave, this adds an enhanced slip-free control for you to sink the perfect putt. Is the weather making you a little tense? The paddle-style profile encourages a more relaxed, tension-free putting stroke. That’s one reason this putter grip is popular among Tour players, there’s nothing quite like it.
We admit there are a few things we can’t control: what side of the draw players will be tested with more unfavorable weather, if a wind gust keeps your shot from reaching an otherwise “short” green or if you forget to pack an umbrella. But when it comes to keeping the connection with your grip when it matters most, Lamkin Grips is trusted to have you covered.
Lamkin brand ambassador Miguel Angel Jiménez captured another PGA Champions Tour win at the 2016 Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic this weekend. This is his third Champions Tour victory in just 10 tournaments.
Equipped with Lamkin Wrap-Tech™ grips, Jiménez began the final round three shots down. Following a solid start he raced ahead with six birdies in eight holes, finishing the round with a flawless 64. This score was the lowest final round score in the tournament’s history, taking the championship by two shots and giving the 51 year old Spaniard his third victory in just ten Champions Tour starts.
The grip of choice for Jiménez is the Lamkin Wrap-Tech™. Fueled by Lamkin’s exclusive Double Helix surface texture, the Wrap-Tech™ delivers the perfect balance of comfort, control and feel. The grip’s traditional wrap-style offers a comfortable feel ideally suited for players who don’t wear a glove. The added traction in the unique dual pattern provides enhanced control and slip-resistance. Made with patented ACE material, Wrap-Tech™ is extraordinarily tacky and shock absorbing, making it perfect for all climates and conditions.
Congratulations to the winner of the Puerto Rico Open on his thrilling play-off victory and his first PGA TOUR win.
The big hitting champion was equipped with Lamkin UTx grips. Finishing his four rounds with a 12 under total, he showed tremendous control of his complete game to set up a play-off contested over the par five 18th. Making the most of his huge distance, the winner sealed his victory with three consecutive birdies.
Lamkin UTx is the most technologically advanced grip produced by the world’s oldest golf grip manufacturer. Combining two types of Lamkin’s super tacky ACE 3GEN material with a fabric weave delivers Lamkin’s proprietary Tri-Layer technology. This provides for a tacky, comfortable connection to the club along with all-weather traction for when control is at a premium.
After two top three finishes, Lamkin Ambassador Brandt Snedeker secured an early season victory at the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open. Snedeker, equipped with Lamkin Crossline grips, put in one of the performances of his life in the final round, recording the only under par score with a 69. To put it in perspective, the final round average was 79.9, the highest ever final round average on the PGA Tour.
Snedeker battled through the awful conditions using his trusty Lamkin Crossline grips, which have been in his bag for several years. The Tour favorite Crossline grip features a distinctive, densely spaced pattern that is arguably the best all-weather grip in the industry. That performance was clearly on display throughout Snedeker's remarkable final round at Torrey Pines.
Shortly after Snedeker completed his final round, play was suspended for the day due to extreme winds and heavy rain. Come Monday morning, strong winds again challenged the returning players and as the last of the field dropped away Snedeker was crowned champion.
Many observers have said that the control and shot making that Snedeker displayed in his final round, during such extreme weather conditions, will be remembered as one of the best of the year. .
Congratulations to the winner of the 2016 Sony Open on his dramatic playoff victory this weekend. Equipped with Lamkin's Crossline Full-Cord grips, a Tour favorite for almost 20 years, the winner shot an impeccable final round 62, including an incredible run of 7 straight birdies. He then birdied 17 & 18 to pull level with Lamkin ambassador Brandt Snedeker taking the event into a sudden death playoff.
Snedeker, equipped with Lamkin Crossline grips, had led going into the final round and finished with a superb 66, but he succumbed to some fantastic golf from the eventual winner, going down to a birdie putt on the second play-off hole.
The Lamkin Crossline grip has been Lamkin’s best-selling grip for more than a decade. Crossline features a distinctive, densely spaced pattern that promotes light grip tension and provides superior lateral traction. Lamkin’s proprietary rubber compound adds tackiness and durability, while the grip’s firmness delivers excellent torsion control. The Full-Cord version of Crossline offers unmatched traction in all weathers and is a firm favourite of many Tour professionals.
Congratulations to the winner of the 2015 WGS HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai this weekend.
Equipped with Lamkin UTx grips on his clubs, the 7th reserve for this prestigious tournament secured a two stroke victory with a final round 68. This win was the hard working Scot’s first victory on either the European or PGA Tour and the first Scottish win in a WGC event.
UTx grips feature Lamkin’s proprietary Tri-Layer technology. Made with three functional layers, UTx grips deliver unparalleled comfort and control in all conditions. A softer base of Lamkin ACE 3GEN material combined with a middle full cord layer and a top layer of firmer ACE 3GEN gives the stability and traction of a high performance grip required by Tour professionals along with superior levels of comfort.
The performance and comfort of the Lamkin UTx has made the Lamkin UTX one of the fastest growing grips on the PGA and European Tour with dozens of players switching since its introduction in 2014.
Congratulations to the winner of the FedEx St. Jude Classic, who secured his first career PGA TOUR victory at this weekend’s event. He was a model of consistency throughout the tournament. A co-leader at 9-under, 23 players were within four strokes to begin the final round of the tournament. By No. 11, the winner sat alone atop the leaderboard and maintained that position for the rest of the afternoon.
Using Lamkin’s best-selling Crossline Full-Cord golf grips, the champion fired a 66-68-67-66 for the tournament. Preferred by Tour players for more than 15 years, the Crossline grip offers exceptional traction in all playing conditions. A cord fabric enhances the torsion control and durability of the proprietary rubber compound featured in Crossline grips and provides golfers with exceptional grip control and confidence. Tour Pros have the luxury of a tour van and some of the very best club builders in the world at their disposal. When it comes to the U.S. Open qualifier though, such is not the case. Most golfers must stick to what’s in their bag; unless of course, your caddie has your previous set of irons.
Fortunately, the Caddie had the Tour Pro’s hand-me-down irons on hand at the event. The equipment change should come as no surprise as the Tour Pro is Grandson of Arnold Palmer (Mr. Palmer is a self-admitted equipment tinkerer). Mr. Palmer has been a friend of the Lamkin family and a brand ambassador for many years. His Grandson uses Lamkin’s UTx golf grips and shot 66-66-132 to earn himself a trip to the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.
Some things are meant to be enjoyed together. A sunny day spent on the golf course, peanut butter and jelly or iced tea and lemonade…you get the gist. For Miguel, he seems to have transitioned from his traditional cigar and good wine, to hitting a hole-in-one then showing off his suave dance moves. Earlier this year, we saw him cha-cha after dunking his shot on the 173 yard par 3, 15th at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. His most recent hole-in-one, however, is especially fitting for a golfer who is undoubtedly the Most Interesting Man in golf.
Much like The Mechanic’s warm-up routine, we have become familiar with Miguel chasing records at the Open de Espana. In 2014, he extended his own record of being the oldest to win in European Tour history. He also broke the record previously held by Arnold Palmer (another Lamkin wrap grip player) by being the oldest to win the Open de Espana.
In 2014 Miguel rewrote history on home soil at this tournament. Fast forward one year, he is back and in true form. Miguel dropped in a lovely par-three ace at No. 8 at the Open de Espana. He celebrated with the traditional sheathing of his club, followed by a non-traditional moonwalk across the tee box. The ace marks Miguel’s ninth hole-in-one on the European Tour, tying the record for most all-time on the tour.
Whether it’s the 100 bottles of wine he won by holing out in Portugal a few years back, or the 288 bottles of beer this ace gets him. Miguel will only be truly satisfied if he can defend his title and WIN this tournament back-to-back. If he continues to hit shots like his most recent ace, we are sure to see more dancing, records broken and him bringing home another victory. You know, more Miguel being Miguel.
Fresh off a Masters performance that would have won the green jacket in all but three of the last 20 tournaments, Justin Rose channeled his new confidence into a record-breaking victory at the 2015 Zurich Classic in New Orleans. Equipped with Lamkin’s R.E.L. ACE golf grips and Deep-Etched putter grip, Rose set the new tournament record at 22-under, secured his 7th win on the PGA Tour, and has now won a PGA Tour tournament in six straight seasons, the second-longest streak on tour.
The new world No.6 embodied consistent performance amid wet and windy conditions with his custom R.E.L. ACE grips and Deep-Etched putter grip. Armed with Lamkin golf grips, Justin had the confidence to play aggressively on his last two holes. He finished the tournament with a bogey-free weekend and back-to-back birdies to secure the exciting win. The victory gives Justin great confidence going into the heart of the golf season.
Justin Rose plays a custom R.E.L. ACE grip with a distinctive red cap and a reduced taper shape that’s slightly larger in the lower hand. The super-tacky ACE material and the surface texture of the R.E.L. grip promote an ideal light grip pressure to maximize shot distance and consistency. For his putter, Justin uses Lamkin’s Deep-Etched grip. The horizontally etched pattern is unique, but the traditional shape has been a favorite on Tour for years and provides exceptional feel.

Is there anything more stylish than a Green Jacket? If it’s April in Augusta, and you’re playing on golf’s biggest stage, the answer is absolutely not. The best-looking golfer will be the one wearing a green jacket on April 12th.
What does that have to do with golf grips?
While style is certainly important to most top PGA Professionals, they are far more focused on what is in their hands. Professional golfers are extraordinarily in touch (pun intended) with the feel of their equipment. Since grips are the only part of the clubs they actually touch, you can bet they begin every round with the perfect set of golf grips. Here’s a look at what some of the top competitors will have in their hands.

Congratulations to the winner of the Shell Houston Open, who secured his victory by outlasting two others in a three-man playoff.
The winner was six shots back of the leader to begin the day. Armed with Lamkin’s Crossline Tour Full-Cord golf grips, he came out firing. Five birdies in a row and a total of nine birdies through 12, the performance tied the tournament course record for the front nine at 29.
Two others also finished at 16-under, which led to a three-man playoff. It took two trips to No. 18 for the winner to finally emerge. The rally was the biggest on the PGA Tour since last April and gives the winner momentum going into the year’s first major.
Imagine this; you step up to the tee box on 17 facing a 347 yard par-4. You decide to choke up on the driver and try to hit it straight. You strike perfectly. So perfect in fact, that the shot lands and rolls right into the hole. Theoretically, you’ve just hit a 347-yard hole-in-one. In reality, it is actually a birdie since your first shot went out of bounds.
Although the story may sound like fantasy, it was reality for the Australian PGA Tour Pro playing the Valero Texas Open. Fortunately onlookers can vouch for what is being deemed the ‘craziest birdie in golf history’. Armed with Lamkin’s Crossline golf grip, he solidified his place in golf history with the unbelievable shot. A mulligan is the only thing that stood between Tour Pro and becoming the second to record an albatross on a par 4. He still is the first to hit a shot of this caliber, and his first round performance has him one stroke behind the leader.
Congratulations to Lamkin brand ambassador Brandt Snedeker on his impressive victory at the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
The seven-time PGA Tour winner has relied on Lamkin grips throughout his professional career and is currently playing with the Crossline ACE. The super tacky and highly responsive grip provides golfers with a distinctive high-traction feel and superior torsion control. Crossline ACE grips are ideally suited for use in any weather, including humid and wet conditions.
Players hoping to get their hands on the same grips played by Brandt can purchase them directly from Lamkin Grips in their exclusive online Tour Van shop.
Snedeker’s win propels him to No.31 on the Official World Golf Ranking, qualifying him for the upcoming Masters tournament and making him a two-time champion of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Congratulations to Lamkin brand ambassador Miguel Angel Jiménez on his thrilling victory at the 2015 Mitsubishi Electric Championship. This win signifies the 51 year old Spaniard’s first win since becoming a Lamkin brand ambassador and the first win on any Tour for Lamkin’s new Wrap-Tech grip.
Jiménez closed out his second victory in three starts on the Champions Tour with six bridies in the last nine holes, carding a closing round 66 to edge out Mark O’Meara by a shot.
This was only the second tournament that Jiménez had put the Lamkin Wrap-Tech grips into play and they are clearly becoming a firm favorite. Fueled by the exclusive Double Helix surface texture, the new Wrap-Tech delivers the perfect balance of comfort, control and feel. Made with patented ACE material, Wrap-Tech™ is extraordinarily tacky and shock absorbing, making it perfect for all climates and conditions.
Working for Lamkin, I’m often asked to test out our new golf grips, and rightfully so! It’s one of the perks of the job. But testing out the Wrap-Tech golf grip was more of a stretch for me. I’m just not a wrap grip player. After a good deal of prodding, however, I finally threw them on my woods. I wish I would have put them on sooner. I’M CONVERTED!
Traditionally for me, cord golf grips that are very firm worked best. I bounced between the Crossline Full-Cord and UTx, switching back to Crossline in the end. I have a high swing speed, and sweat a lot. Which made traditional wrap golf grips a no-go. You can understand why I was hesitant to put our new Wrap-Tech on my gamers. Nonetheless, I obliged.
Uncommon in San Diego, I was faced with cold-weather, rain and wind in my first round out with the new golf grips. On the first tee, I pulled out my driver and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of tack and the feel of the grip. It basically stuck to my glove. My first drive was a bomb down the right side of the fairway. Great start, but I was going to need more convincing if these golf grips are going to end up on all of my clubs. It only took five holes until I was completely SOLD. [Not unlike Miguel Angel Jimenez who, after only 15 holes with Wrap-Tech on his clubs, made a hole-in-one] Monday morning was spent regripping golf clubs. My only regret is not switching to Wrap-Tech sooner.
Lamkin’s new Wrap-Tech golf grip was in play on Tour a mere 15 holes before recording its first hole-in-one. Miguel Ángel Jiménez had used a very traditional Lamkin wrap-style grip for more than a decade. This week, however, he decided he would give the brand new Wrap-Tech golf grips a shot. Shortly after, Miguel recorded an ACE on the 173 yard 15th hole during the first round of the 2015 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
A New Year inevitably brings new resolutions. We’re guessing that playing better golf and lowering your handicap is on the resolution list for more than a few golfers. At Lamkin, we understand your obsession and we’re here to help you achieve even the loftiest of your golf goals. Our 2015 portfolio is filled with golf grips engineered to enhance your performance and ultimately lead to a more consistent and enjoyable game for all golfers.
This grip is incredibly TACKY! You have to feel them to believe it. In addition to the super-tacky feel of the patented ACE material, Wrap-Tech features a dual texture surface to provide maximum grip comfort and control. If you love a wrap-style golf grip that performs in all-weather, be sure to give these a shot.
As one of the fastest growing new grips on Tour, Lamkin’s UTx quickly became a favorite among top players around the world. The line has been expanded to include a wrap-style and putter grip, both featuring proprietary Tri-Layer Technology, so that more golfers can experience the distinctive feel and performance of UTx.
Lamkin’s revolutionary new putter grip features functional hand alignment guides to promote consistent hand placement and an oversized, flat-front shape to minimize wrist movement. Whether you putt using a reverse overlap, cross-handed, or claw putting grip style, this grip is sure to have you rolling putts better than ever.
Congratulations to the winner of the Asian Tour Thailand Golf Championship on his victory this weekend.
Using Lamkin’s Crossline Full-Cord grips on his woods, the winner of the tournament pulled back a two shot deficit to secure the title with a final round 67 for his 42nd career title. This victory, his 14th on Asian soil, came amongst a strong field who pushed the former world No.1 all the way to the wire. Having played some great golf to secure the title, the winner will look to push on for more wins in 2015.
Congratulations to the winner of the PGA TOUR 2014 OHL Classic on his victory this weekend in Mexico.
Using Lamkin’s UTx RIBBED grips, the winner of the tournament pulled back a three shot deficit to secure the title with a final round 66. There were a few scares along the way including his drive on the 18th resting against the base of a tree. With a left hand recovery putting the ball back in play the winner held his nerve with a safe sand wedge and two puts to wrap up the win.
The UTx grip from Lamkin, as used by the winner, features the company’s unique Tri-Layer technology. A softer foundation layer and a firmer, tacky outer layer of ACE material are combined with a moisture-wicking cord weave to deliver an incredibly secure, high-traction connection to the club.
Congratulations to the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year 2014. He burst on to the scene with his win at the Puerto Rico Open, firing four rounds in the 60s. This win was in only his 13th PGA Tour start. Playing in 29 events and along with his one win, he had four top 10s and eight top 25s. He was the only rookie to advance to the BMW Championship, the third of four legs of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Using Lamkin’s Crossline with ribbed core he finished the season strong, T9 at the Deutsche Bank Championship and T12 at the BMW Championship.
He finished the season 49th in the FedExCup standings, ahead of all other rookies this season. Congratulations on a great season and a deserving PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award!

What a Ryder Cup! The tournament always brings out the fire and spirit of the greatest golfers in the world. It creates the same emotions in golf fans, and ignited the same passion here at Lamkin. That passion influenced us to create special-edition golf grips, inspired by Team U.S.A., Team Europe, and the spirit of The Ryder Cup.
The limited-edition Team U.S.A. golf grip represents a blend of Team USA and Keegan Bradley. Keegan plays our Crossline ACE 3GEN Full-Cord. We made the Crossline in a RED ACE 3GEN material with a WHITE Crossline pattern and Lamkin logo. To complete the look it features a blue cap and trim rings. The special-edition grip bares a stark resemblance to the American flag and screams U.S.A. For golfers looking for maximum tack and torsion control, the Crossline ACE 3GEN is perfect for you.
Team Europe and Justin Rose are the inspiration behind the design of Lamkin’s special-edition Team Europe golf grip. We created a NAVY BLUE R.E.L. ACE 3GEN, highlighted by Team-Europe-YELLOW Lamkin logo and trim rings. Justin uses our black R.E.L. ACE 3GEN with a reduced taper under the right hand, accented by his special blue cap. R.E.L. comes in our widest assortment of colors and sizes while the ACE 3GEN material makes it extremely tacky and reduces vibration, helping minimize the risk of injury while golfing.
The Team U.S.A. and Team Europe grips were available EXCLUSIVELY to the winners of our social-media contests. Visit us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for tips, news, product launches, and access to special-edition grips like these.
For the first time since 1973, and for only the second time in the history of The Ryder Cup, Scotland plays host to the greatest tournament in match-play golf. The world’s best golfers are set and golf fans around the world are eagerly anticipating every nail-biting moment. Here at Lamkin, we share the same enthusiasm and have a deep respect for Ryder Cup tradition.
For decades, Lamkin provided some of the best Ryder Cup competitors with their grips and this year is no exception. Representing both the U.S. and Europe team, Lamkin is the grip of choice for Keegan Bradley and Justin Rose. We are often asked ‘what type of grips do Tour players use?’ so we thought this would be a good opportunity to take a closer look…
The 2011 PGA Tour rookie of the year, Keegan Bradley, is the first Captain’s pick for Team USA. He was paired with Phil in his debut, winning three matches. When he arrives at Gleneagles, he will face a tough course, harder competition, and unpredictable weather throughout the tournament. His golf grip, Lamkin’s Crossline ACE 3GEN Full-Cord individually weighed to ensure exact gram specs within his specified tolerance, will ensure a confident grip no matter the opponent or conditions.
This exact grip is available EXCLUSIVELY at shop.LamkinGrips.com
World Ranked number 5, Justin Rose makes his third appearance for Team Europe at The Ryder Cup. With a 6-3 record, and coming off a good season, he is sure to be a key component for Europe. The courses are challenging, due to uneven fairways, thick rough and small-deep-bunkers. Precision is a must. Trajectory and distance control are key to successful rounds. Justin will be armed with Lamkin’s R.E.L. ACE 3GEN with a reduced taper that makes the grip larger under the bottom hand. At Justin’s request, the grip also features a unique blue cap. His confidence in his golf grip will allow him to execute the shots necessary for success at Gleneagles…regardless of weather conditions.
If you want the same FEEL on your clubs that Justin has on his own, you can order them exclusively at shop.LamkinGrips.com
The oversize putter grip has made its mark on the greens over the last couple of years, and is marketed as a quick and easy fix to shave strokes. But, is there evidence to back the claims? And, even with quantifiable results, is an OVERSIZED putter grip right for every golfer?
When it comes to lowering scores, using an oversize putter grip is said to provide instant benefits to players. Manufacturers claim the larger size and parallel profile quiets the hands and wrists, provides a tension free grip, promotes a pendulum like swing, and increases consistency; all of which leads to fewer missed putts and fewer strokes.
Sounds great, right? Well, not exactly. Oversized putter grips may not be right for all golfers. Golf, as we know, is not a one-size-fits-all sport. What feels good to one player, may feel terrible for another. And, in the game of golf, nothing is quite as important as feel.
Although gaining popularity, oversize putter grips are not an automatic fix for your putting stroke. Many golfers who try the oversize putter grip tend to switch back to a traditional pistol style putter grip because they lost critical feel and feedback. Smaller, tapered putter grips can offer a great alternative, delivering exceptional feel, feedback and distance control. While oversize putter grips are in the bags of many Tour players, the MAJORITY of Tour players are still using a smaller, more traditional putter grip.
Before jumping on the bandwagon, visit your local PGA professional or golf retailer, and try putting with different size grips. Don’t be too quick to follow the latest fad unless you’re confident the larger size gives you a truly better grip on your game.
Congratulations to the winner of the 2014 Russian Open on his exciting European Tour win. Equipped with Lamkin UTx grips on all of his clubs, the winner produced an incredible final round finish, edging out a fellow Lamkin user in the play-off.
With the play-off a replay of the 18th, the eventual winner held his nerve to secure his third win on the European Tour, capping a great week for Lamkin and the players who choose to put its grips in to play.
The UTx from Lamkin, as used by the winner, features the company’s unique tri layer technology. Two layers of different firmness ACE 3GEN material and a moisture wicking fabric weave combine to deliver an incredibly secure, tacky connection to the club that provides superior traction in all weathers. The Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN grip, as used by the runner up is a simulated leather wrap design with a minimal surface pattern. With vibration dampening properties and a super-tacky finish the Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN provides a secure connection to the club with a light pressure grip.
Congratulations to Justin Rose on his win at the Scottish Open. With REL ACE grips on all his swinging clubs and a new Deep Etched Paddle grip on his putter, long-time Lamkin Grips user Rose produced a flawless final round. After birdieing four of the first six holes Rose never looked like being caught and ultimately posted a 65 to come in at -16 for the tournament.
With his second victory in two weeks, Rose is breaking new ground and hopes to make it three in a row as he heads to Hoylake for the Open Championship. At a career high third in the Official World Golf Rankings, Rose is reaching top form at the right time and Lamkin is delighted to have been able to play a part in that journey.
The REL ACE grip, used by Rose throughout the year, is made with the patented ACE 3GEN synthetic rubber material. In addition to unmatched shock absorption, the compound is incredibly tacky and comfortable. The super-tacky material, combined with a medium-traction surface pattern, promotes the ideal light grip pressure needed to maximize shot distance and consistency.
The new putter grip used by Justin Rose, the Deep-Etched Paddle, has been a favorite on the PGA Tour for more than a decade. Made with a long-lasting rubber compound and featuring a unique deep horizontally etched pattern, the smaller shape of the grip provides players with tremendous feel and enhanced feedback.
Congratulations to longtime Lamkin Grips user, Jutin Rose, on his exciting victory this weekend at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional. Rose sealed the win on the first playoff hole after a dramatic final round. Using REL ACE grips and recently switching to the Deep-Etched Paddle putter grip, the 2013 US Open winner looked in excellent form and well prepared for the upcoming British Open.
“To do it and get it done making key putts, that’s huge for my psyche going into a major championship,” said Rose of his performance.
Justin Rose recently switched to the Deep Etched Paddle putter grip, which features a smaller shape to provide golfers with maximum feedback and distance control.
Congratulations (again!) to the winner of the 2014 Open de Espana. After maintaining his solid play in a three man playoff, the perennial crowd-favorite finally won his country's premier tournament after 27 tries! The winner has enjoyed a recent run of exciting victories using Lamkin's classic Perma-Wrap grips.
The Perma-Wrap is a smooth, simulated wrap style grip ideal for players looking for a more comfortable grip feel. It's also a great choice for golfers who prefer playing without a glove. The updated Perma-Wrap ACE 3GEN is made with a patented synthetic rubber material that is extremely tacky and shock absorbant. The tacky feel of Perma-Wrap promotes the ideal, light-pressure grip needed to maximize swing speed and shot distance.
If you still haven’t figured out what to buy for the special Mom in your life, then congratulations… you’re officially looking for last-minute gift ideas. If golf is her game, then Lamkin has the perfect solution that offers both fashion and function: NEW GOLF GRIPS. Get your Mom something truly special, and help her take her game to the next level.
Selecting the ideal golf grip is overlooked when golfers want to improve their game. The grip is the sole connection to the club, and essential to playing your very best. A set of women’s golf clubs typically come with stock undersized grips that are both too small and too soft for a large percentage of female golfers. A grip that's too small promotes extra hand action and commonly leads to pulling the ball. Grips that are too soft cause many players to use too much tension to confidently control their clubs. Unnecessary tension in a player’s grip can wreak havoc on their performance.
Help your Mom save 3-4 strokes per round by giving the gift of Lamkin Golf Grips. Selecting the proper size grip, in a feel and color she loves, is a sure way to a successful Mother’s Day. To determine the best size, use Lamkin’s interactive grip fitting guide. Lamkin proudly offers the largest selection and widest variety of grips, so you can be sure to get her a color she ADORES, with the feel she LOVES. We have the perfect grip for every golfer, so get your Mom the gift that gives back.
Another big win for Lamkin Grips at the 2014 Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. Equipped with Lamkin's Tour Black Full-Cord grips, the winner maintained his lead throughout the final round and sunk a short put on 18 to secure the victory.
Lamkin's Full-Cord grips are a favorite among top Tour players because of the unique blend of a tacky, slighly softer rubber material and a proprietary cord buffing process. The result is a comfortable feeling grip that provides exceptional traction in all weather conditions.
Congratulations to the winner of the Greater Gwinnett Championship this weekend. Using Lamkin's Perma-Wrap golf grips, the crowd-favorite secured a win in his very first Champions Tour appearance, and became just the third player to lead from first round to the final round of the tournament.
The Perma-Wrap grip is a traditional, simulated wrap style grip that features a minimal surface pattern and a unique finishing process to optimize grip tackiness. A favorite among golfers for more than 20 years, the Perma-Wrap features a classic design that offers tremendous comfort and gripping confidence.
Congratulations to this weekend's winner of the Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumper. Finishing the tournament at 18 under par, the champion has now won 13 times on Asian soil and used the Tour-favorite Crossline grip for each of those victories.
A best-seller for more than 15 years, the exclusive design of the Crossline grip is one of the most recognizable patterns in golf. Trusted by dozens of top Tour players, teaching professionals and millions of golfers around the world, Crossline delivers unequaled durability, exceptional surface traction and maximum torsion control.

We recently sat down with Lamkin CEO, Bob Lamkin, to discuss the company's long relationship with golf's reigning King. The company's connection to Arnold Palmer dates back nearly 60 years and has clearly had a very big impact on its evolution.
How did the relationship between Arnold Palmer and Lamkin begin? The relationship began during Arnold Palmer’s playing career. He used Lamkin Leather grips and that was the first connection to the company. All of the players in the fifties played leather grips, and Lamkin was the leading supplier of leather grips to Tour Players.
Tell us about meeting Arnold Palmer for the first time. I was 15 years old, working the Western Open at Butler National in Chicago. My father, Bob Lamkin Sr., gave me leather grips to personally deliver to Mr. Palmer. A formal introduction, and the beginning of our friendship, began at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills CC, in Tulsa; about 17 years ago. We had dinner together, and I was in awe. It was amazing how comfortable he made me feel after only 10 minutes. He made me feel like we had known each other forever. The following year, Peter Malik, who is a friend of mine, asked if I would be interested in having Mr. Palmer officially endorse Lamkin Grips. I jumped at the opportunity.
What have you learned from him, personally, that has been the most influential? The most important thing I learned from him is that you treat EVERYONE with respect. Everybody that he meets, every interaction I have had with Mr. Palmer, on and off the course, he treats everyone with respect and gives them his undivided attention. Mr. Palmer had a great relationship with President Eisenhower, and he would treat The President as well as the person carrying his clubs with the same dignity and respect. That is without question the most meaningful characteristic that has really inspired me, both personally and professionally.
What is something that EVERY golfer could learn from Mr. Palmer; both on and off the course? You never truly master this game; whether you are the weekend warrior, or Arnold Palmer who has won major championships. It is forever a quest to get better. It takes continuous improvement and unwavering effort. Your game will fluctuate. That is part of what makes golf so great; you never perfect it. What Mr. Palmer personifies on the golf course, is that you go through ups and downs, and you learn from that and you get better from it, but only if you continue to work at it. I take this ideology and apply it to my business, and of course my golf game.
What are the characteristics of Mr. Palmer that are most consistent with the core values of Lamkin Grips? Arnold Palmer is the epitome of Lamkin as a brand. He personifies our core values: how he grew up, his work ethic, his character, his passion for the game and his passion for people and making a positive impact on the community. It can be accomplished through golf, and outside of golf. Mr. Palmer has given so much back and done so much for the community. Without a doubt, golf is a better game because of Arnold Palmer. I am a better person for having the privilege of knowing Arnold Palmer.
Congratulations to the winner of the 2014 HSBC Championship in Singapore. Armed with a Crossline Paddle putter grip, the LPGA Tour favorite sunk an unbelievable 75-putt to score an eagle on the second playoff hole. Great shots begin with a great grip!

Lamkin Grips just announced the addition of PGA TOUR players Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele to their star-studded endorsement team. The new partnership formalizes the company’s long relationship with both players, who have used Lamkin’s best-selling Crossline grips throughout their professional golf careers.
Keegan Bradley has won three PGA TOUR events, including his dramatic win at the 2011 PGA Championship during his breakthrough Rookie-of-the-Year season. He is currently ranked 16th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Also joining the Tour in 2011, Brendan Steele secured a PGA TOUR victory at the 2011 Valero Texas Open and has since amassed over 20 Top 25 finishes.
In addition to continuing to play Lamkin golf grips, Keegan and Brendan will provide Lamkin Grips with ongoing product development and player testing feedback. Their most current grip of choice is the Crossline ACE 3GEN, made with the patented Advanced Cohesive Elastomer compound. Lamkin’s proprietary ACE material, combined with the distinctive Crossline surface pattern, provides golfers with an exceptionally secure grip connection in all weather conditions.
Lamkin is also represented by Arnold Palmer, arguably the greatest golfer and golf ambassador in the history of the game. Mr. Palmer has been using Lamkin grips on his equipment for more than 60 years, becoming an official spokesman for the company in 1997.
Any serious golfer will tell you their grips are as important as any other piece of equipment. After all, the grip is the only piece of equipment a player directly connects with during the swing. Despite its importance, however, it is too often overlooked and neglected.
Grip maintenance is crucial to keeping a firm hold on your equipment. Simple golf grip cleaning will help restore surface tack, prevent hand slipping and ensure you’re using an ideal light-pressure grip. In other words, cleaning keeps your grips feeling like new.
Combine that obvious benefit with the current color trend in golf grips (which looks to be here to stay) and maintenance is becoming an absolute-must. Before the color explosion, grime and wear-and-tear could be hidden by the forgiving hue of traditional black grips. Now -- more than ever -- golfers are able to see the inevitable build-up of gunk deposited by a wide range of culprits: namely, oils, grime and leftover sunscreen on your hands and a host of environmental particulates.
So, how can you effectively combat the negative effects of dirty grips? It’s simple: CLEAN YOUR GRIPS REGULARLY. And the next question, “What should I use to clean my golf grips?” Well, you’ve come to the right place for answers:
1. GRIPES Grip Cleaning Wipes
What you need: A pack of GRIPES ($5.99)
a. Remove a GRIPES wipe from the package, and reseal the package. Take the wipe and wipe down your golf grips (for rubber, synthetic rubber, soft, and even cord grips) It is durable enough that 2 wipes can effectively clean your whole set of clubs, at a cost of just 80 cents.
*That is all there is to it. The wipes are specifically made for any and all types of golf grips, and engineered to bring back the tack and feel so important to golf grips. The fast-drying formula allows your grips to air-dry, quickly enough to wipe them down before a round. The pack fits perfectly in any golf bag so it goes where your clubs go. These wipes are the most user-friendly, inexpensive, and fast, way to clean your grips making them look like new. Most important, GRIPES grip cleaning wipes restore the tack to make them FEEL like new.
2. Warm Soap and Water
What you need: Bucket or sink of warm water, mild detergent, soft abrasive pad/brush (for cord/rubber grips), washcloth (for soft “squishy” grips), a sink or a hose, and a dry towel.
a. Inspect your grips for any major damage, i.e. rips or tears, bubbles etc. Grips that show this must be replaced as no amount of cleaning can fix those issues.
b. Fill the bucket or sink with warm water and mix in a couple drops of the mild detergent. Dip the brush or washcloth into the bucket and scrub your grips.
c. Rinse the brush or washcloth free of the detergent, as well as the grips that were just scrubbed. Take the clean brush or washcloth and wipe the grip free of any residue.
d. Rinse the grips again with soap-free water to make sure all detergent is removed from the grip.
e. Use a dry towel and wipe all of the grips dry. You can also air-dry the grips, although we recommend drying them with a towel as soon as possible. As this also gets rid of any trace of the detergent and residue.
With the myriad of grip options available it's no surprise that golfers are scratching their heads, wondering how to determine the best golf grip for their game. While there are hundreds of different grips (yes, hundreds!) to choose from, there are four main factors to consider when searching for the right grip:
1. SIZE Matters. This is the single most important factor when selecting a grip. There are four basic golf grip sizes: Undersize, Standard, Midsize and Oversize. Further customization can be achieved by adding extra layers of tape during installation. The general rule for determining the best size is using a grip that allows the tips of a player's longest two fingers to barely touch their palms. In addition to hand size, players should also consider their personal grip strength. A player with limited hand strength may benefit from a slightly larger grip that allows a solid connection with less exertion. If you haven’t considered your grip size or haven’t been properly fitted, use Lamkin’s exclusive Interactive Grip Selector.
2. GRIP MATERIAL. Most grips are made of rubber or synthetic rubber materials. These grips are extremely durable and come in a variety of styles and colors. Some new synthetic materials, like Lamkin’s patented ACE 3GEN, offer the additional benefits of superior vibration dampening and long-lasting tackiness. For golfers who play in wet or humid conditions (or have wet hands), grips that include a CORD weave are very popular because they provide additional traction to prevent a player’s hands from slipping. Another option is a grip made with a unique-feeling thermo-plastic material. These grips, like the Lamkin iLINE, offer a much softer, tacky feel and are available in a wide variety of bold colors. Golfers should select a material best suited to their game, their climate and their personal preferences.
3. SURFACE TEXTURE. The design and pattern on the surface of a grip create either a smooth feel or a more coarse and abrasive feel. When selecting a grip, golfers should choose a texture that feels comfortable and secure. If a player doesn’t wear a glove, they may prefer a grip with less pattern and a smoother feel. Some players prefer a rougher texture and more aggressive pattern on their grips because it provides more hand traction and gripping confidence. Typically, grips with more texture perform very well in wet weather because they provide much-needed surface traction for increased slip-resistance.
4. GRIP FIRMNESS. Typically, firmer grips offer increased stability and incredible torsion control. These grips are ideal for high swing speed players because the prevent grip movement during a player's swing. Firmer grips are favored by most Tour players.Grip Tips
Scoring back-to-back PGA TOUR wins, Lamkin Grips are helping Tour players score an impressive winning streak in July. Equipped with Tour Black Full-Cord grips, the winner of the Canadian Open dramatically carded four birdies on the final day s and posted a 2 under par 70 that left him with the dramatic championship. He started the day in the lead following a flawless 63 on Saturday. The winning grip, Lamkin\'s Tour Black Full-Cord, features a soft rubber compound and a unique cord buffing process that offers a much less abrasive feel than traditional cord grips. While the feel of the grip is remarkably soft, the Tour Black manages to deliver the traction and full cord functionality demanded by top Tour players. The week prior, at the Sanderson Farms Championship, the PGA TOUR winner used Lamkin\'s Perma-Wrap 3GEN grips to pick up his first victory since 2007. The crowd favorite, and PGA TOUR veteran, outlasted his opponents in just one playoff hole at the Madison, Mississippi event. His distinctive white wrap-style grips provided a secure, confident connection through an onslaught of humid conditions throughout the tournament. Featuring Lamkin\'s patented 3GEN technology, the Perma-Wrap grips provide players with a softer, tacker feel and unmatched vibration dampening.Tour Report
Congratulations to the winner of the 2013 U.S. Open Championship on his fantastic victory this weekend. In securing victory at Merion Golf Club, the winner became the first English man to hold the U.S. Open title for 43 years.
Starting the final day of the competition 2 shots behind, the winner made the most of the secure connection provided by his Lamkin Performance Plus 3GEN grips to bag his first major. Repeating the steady golf that had been the trademark of his previous 3 rounds the winner stayed in control with a final round 70. The consistency that he showed across the week was beyond virtually every other player as was evident in his final score of 1 over and the huge spread of numbers across the field. Lamkin’s Performance Plus 3GEN was created with a reduced taper to rein in a golfer’s overactive lower hand for straighter, more controlled shots. The larger outside dimension in the lower section of the grip serves to help players hold off shots while still allowing the full release needed to shape the ball flight. The 3GEN all synthetic rubber compound adds the benefits of increased tackiness, greater UV resistance and improved vibration dampening. The medium firm, medium density pattern feels soft yet provides excellent lateral friction promoting a light touch and reduced hand tension through the swing.Tour Report
Finally! A quick, easy and super convenient cleaning solution for keeping your golf grips looking and feeling like new. Lamkin developed GRIPES grip cleaning wipes after being bombarded with golfers asking, “how do I keep my new white and color grips clean?”. Despite dozens of possible cleaning options for golf grips (with varying degrees of complexity), most golfers didn’t even think about grip cleaning until the recent explosion of white and colored grips hit the market. And while it is important to keep your grips LOOKING great, there is another very important benefit derived from regular grip cleaning: reactivating much-needed surface tack to keep them FEELING great! It’s easy to hide dirt and grime on black grips, but it’s still there and likely causing your grips to lose their surface tack. GRIPES grip cleaning wipes are the easiest way to keep your grips looking and feeling like new. Each pack ($5.99 SRP) includes 15 large-surface wipes created specifically for golf grip cleaning. The wipes offer superior, fast-drying cleaning strength ideal for rubber and synthetic rubber grips. The convenient resealable pack fits easily into your golf bag and, when sealed properly, will last for more than a year! GRIPES will be available in November at select green grass, golf specialty shops and online retailers.Grip Tips
Leading golf’s current color trend, Lamkin Grips will release several additional color options in the R.E.L. 3GEN Standard, Midsize and Oversize models. The expansion of the R.E.L. 3GEN golf grip line will include a neon pink option in a standard size model, as well as a red, blue, orange, gray and electric blue option in both the midsize and oversize models. Golfers who play with non-standard size grips will certainly celebrate the addition of more color options in such a popular golf grip. The R.E.L. 3GEN grip has already earned rave reviews from golfers for its amazing feel, tackiness and durability. With more color and size options than any other golf grip in the market, the R.E.L. 3GEN expansion will undoubtedly lead to even more glowing reviews from golfers around the world. Combined with a comfortable and no-slip surface pattern, the R.E.L. grip is manufactured with Lamkin’s patent-pending 3GEN technology that provides unmatched vibration dampening and extraordinary grip durability. The design of the grip was created to maximize surface area contact with a golfer’s hand to ensure a confident, controlled connection between the golfer and their club. Lamkin’s 2013 grip collection will be available through golf specialty, online retailers and green grass shops beginning in November 2012.Products
Congratulations to the top two finishers at this weekend’s TOUR Championship. Both players used Lamkin golf grips during their exceptional performances in the tournament. Equipped with Lamkin’s TOUR Black Full-Cord grips, the winner was tied for the lead at the start of the day before shooting a steady 68 and securing victory by three shots. His win at the TOUR Championship immediately elevated his 5th place standing in the coveted FedExCup to the top spot with an enormous $10 million bonus check. The TOUR Black Full-Cord grip from Lamkin is a favorite among top Tour players. The grip features a unique buffing process that provides golfers with a much less abrasive feel than many traditional full-cord grips. While the feel is softer and more comfortable, the Tour Black Full-Cord still delivers the exceptional traction and all-weather performance cord players demand. Using Lamkin’s Performance Plus 3GEN grip, the second place finisher played solid and steady golf throughout the Tour Championship and will certainly bring that momentum as he prepares to represent Team Europe at this week’s Ryder Cup. The Performance Plus grip is manufactured with Lamkin\'s proprietary 3GEN material for the ultimate in shock absorption, durability and tackiness. To help golfers control their overactive lower hand, the grip features a thicker shape and reduced taper profile.Tour Report
Congratulations to this weekend\'s winner of the European Tour\'s KLM Open in The Netherlands. Equipped with Lamkin\'s Performance Plus 3GEN grips, the winner sank a 35-foot eagle putt on the final hole at Hilversumsche to win by two shots with a 14-under par score. His performance was certainly a delight to Europe\'s Ryder Cup captain. Lamkin\'s Performance Plus 3GEN grip was created with a thicker profile, and less taper, to help control a golfer\'s lower hand, ensuring more consistent and straighter shot. Made of Lamkin\'s proprietary vibration-dampening 3GEN synthetic rubber compound, this tacky grip protects your hands while providing shot feedback and improved scoring opportunities, which is undoubtedly one of the reasons why Tour players, including the 2012 KLM Open Champion, choose this grip.Tour Report
We recently interviewed Stephen Hutton, PGA Professional, and Head Golf Professional at Geneva Golf & Country Club, about the importance of playing with a properly sized golf grip.
Common Problems, Simple Solutions When a student or member is having trouble with their game, one of the first topics I discuss is the importance of using a correctly sized golf grip. Our philosophy is pretty simple: in order to perform well, a player must be using the right grip. It’s amazing how many mechanical problems stem from a player using a golf grip that’s either too small or too large. Golfers are very aware of the benefits of custom club fitting, but very few have given any thought to their grips, and that’s the only part of the club that is in direct contact with a player’s hands!
For many players, simple hand measurements will help guide a player to their ideal grip. However, there is a large group of golfers that may actually benefit from a grip that’s either larger or smaller than their hand measurement dictates. For instance, a senior golfer might have difficulty with grip strength. These golfers may benefit from a slightly larger grip because it demands far less grip pressure and strength. A grip that’s smaller, even if it’s the ideal measurement, may require too much strength to effectively grip the club. Despite the obvious benefits of using properly sized golf grips, and replacing worn-out grips, it’s likely that 80-85% of golfers are not using their ideal grip and, therefore, missing out on an immediate performance boost.
Custom-Fit Grips Is a 3-4 Stroke Game Changer.
I recently worked with a senior member on a grip fitting consultation. He was a 15 handicap and had trouble generating the necessary club speed to get a decent ball launch. Based on his needs, and hand size, we recommended an oversize Lamkin Perma-Wrap grip. After using that grip on just one club, for just one round, he came back and had all of his clubs regripped. The larger size allowed him to grip the club with more strength, resulting in longer shots off the tee. While his hands were a “standard” size, this player didn't have the strength to properly hold a smaller grip. Switching to the oversize wrap grip immediately shaved three strokes off of his game.
Another common grip fitting problem occurs with female golfers. Nearly every premium club manufacturer uses an undersize (stock) grip on their Ladies Clubs. These are great for an average female height of 5’5 or shorter, but are usually too small for many female players.Grip Tips
Lamkin\'s famous Crossline golf grip has been a best-seller and Tour favorite for nearly 15 years. Currently used on millions of golf clubs around the world, the intersecting (\"crossing\") lines on the Crossline grip have become one of the most recognizable patterns in golf. Because of the enormous volume of Crossline grips produced every year, Lamkin continually upgrades the molding equipment to ensure we provide our customers with the highest quality and most durable golf grips. Over the years, as this equipment is upgraded, the lines of the Crossline pattern became slightly wider than the original design. After a lengthly process of testing and reviewing different iterations of the pattern, Lamkin made the decision to return to the specifications of the original Crossline design. While the difference between the two patterns is quite subtle, it is distinct enough to be noticed by our more attentive customers. The renewed \"Classic\" Crossline grips started shipping this summer and will be available in stores later this year. If you have any questions about the change,Products
When Lamkin chemists began developing the new 3GEN synthetic rubber material back in 2010, their goal was clear: create the industry's most shock-absorbing material for a new line of golf grips. The formula that was successfully developed is, in fact, the most shock aborbent golf grip ever made.
This is a bold claim, but it's absolutely true and Lamkin has the evidence to support it! Check out our video that compares how well the 3GEN material absorbs shock compared to standard rubbers, synthetic rubbers and even polymer compounds that claim to be "more shock absorbing". The results are astounding! 3GEN clearly outperforms all other grip materials in dampening contact vibration.
When the first 3GEN golf grips were launched, they almost immediately captured two of three Golf Digest Golf Medals for grips. The 3GEN advantage is now the fastest-growing material choice among premium club manufacturers, with well over two million 3GEN grips currently in the market or in production.
Tour players have also taken note. The majority of Tour players currently using Lamkin grips have switched to the 3GEN material because it offers a superior feel that can't be found in any other grip material.
The 3GEN advantage is currently offered in more than 25 grip sizes and styles.News

Golf analyst and author Gary McCord, whose irreverent and self-deprecating style has earned him fans worldwide, has recorded a four-part video series designed to help players maximize Lamkin Grips’ new Performance Plus 3GEN Wedge golf grip. The witty and knowledgeable Champions Tour player loaned his expertise to Lamkin’s online education program that breaks down wedge play into quick, easy to understand lessons. Comparing club shafts to pencils and hammers, McCord demonstrates how users gain greater control the further they choke down on whatever is in their grasp. By adding an inch to its grip length and maintaining a wider grip base, McCord shows viewers how Lamkin’s new Wedge Grip promotes a choked down grip to improve short-game play. Throughout the video series, McCord also elaborates on concepts including hand action, swing power, grip size, as well as the differences between soft and firm grips (and when to use which). Lamkin’s new video series featuring Gary McCord can be seen on the company’s channel at www.YouTube.com/lamkingrips.Grip Tips
A radically advanced wedge club deserves a radically advanced grip. So when selecting the grip that best complements TaylorMade’s ATV (All-Terrain Versatility) Wedge, the company chose Lamkin’s new Performance Plus Wedge Grip. Constructed to improve short-game play, this Wedge Grip is one inch longer than standard grips and features a reduced taper, facilitating proper hand position and traction when choking down on the club. “Golf equipment manufacturers take painstaking measures to deliver accuracy on the course, and grips are no exception,” explains Lamkin CEO Bob Lamkin. “Just as TaylorMade designed the new ATV Wedge to perform during critical scoring shots, Lamkin’s Wedge Grip is designed to work seamlessly with the club ensuring maximum control and precision.” TaylorMade’s ATV Wedge is masterfully engineered, and as such required a grip that could facilitate fairway, chip and bunker shots alike to maximize the club’s utility. Taylor Made selected the Performance Plus Wedge Grip in black, with a traditional white TaylorMade logo, , to cap off its latest release. This first-of-its-kind wedge grip is crafted to promote proper hand position and tension needed to achieve better short-game results.Products

Industry experts estimate that more than 85% of golfers are probably using the wrong size grip. If you\'re using a stock grip (the grip that just so happened to come with your new clubs), then chances are really good it\'s a \"standard\" size. Imagine buying and wearing \"standard\" size shoes. Crazy, right? All golfers have different sized hands and fingers, so one \"standard\" size most definitely does not fit all golfers. Using the wrong size grip can be extremely damaging to your game. If you\'re having trouble generating enough swing speed to hit the ball farther, or if you\'re constantly pulling and slicing the ball, check your grip size before you do anything else. Switching to properly sized grips might very well be the easiest and cheapest way to improve your golf game. Click here for the full story on proper grip fitting.Grip Tips

Do you know what brand of grips you’re playing with? You’d be surprised how many people actually have Lamkin grips on their clubs yet don’t even know it. We’ve been providing grips to all the major club manufacturers for years. Chances are though, you won’t see the Lamkin logo on them. We’re hoping to see that change. And speaking of change, if you want to change your game, change your grips. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to feel like you have a set of new clubs. If you’re grips are worn, if you’ve played over 40 rounds with them, or if you’re holding on for dear life to prevent your hands from slipping, it’s time for new grips. Our 3GEN grips with patent pending technology stay tacky in all weather conditions–even snow. (Okay, we haven’t really tested them in snow, but be the first and let us know.)Products
