Lamkin Takes Firm Grip on LPGA, Wins Women's Open

SAN DIEGO, California, July 7, 2006 - It was only the 10th playoff in U.S. Women’s Open history and the Newport Country Club — one of the five founding clubs of the USGA — offered formidable challenges. However, at the end of Monday’s finale, Lamkin grips outperformed the competition to win the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open Championship and Lamkin's second LPGA major on the year.
