Lamkin Donates Quarter Million to Fight Prostate Cancer

SAN DIEGO, California, June 1, 2006 - A world leader in golf grip innovation, Lamkin announces that the company's 'Grips for Life' program has surpassed the $250,000 mark in donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Lamkin remains steadfastly committed to raising one million dollars through Grips for Life, a foundation created with Arnold Palmer that delivers a portion of all proceeds from domestic Lamkin branded grip sales to help fund research into treatments and an eventual cure.

In January 2004, Lamkin, in partnership with Arnold Palmer and the Prostate Cancer Foundation, unveiled the company’s goal of raising one million dollars. Palmer, who has played Lamkin grips for more than 40 years, is a prostate cancer survivor and an active partner in the campaign to conquer a disease that will impact an estimated 234,000 men in the United States alone this year.

“Cancer, particularly prostate cancer, is one of the biggest killers in the United States. Statistics say that one in every six American men will develop prostate cancer in the course of his lifetime,” adds Lamkin. “We’re determined to fight this disease that affects so many in the golfing community, and we are doing what we believe is our duty to give something back.”
