Like anything, the better a grip is maintained, the longer it will last. It is advisable to wash your grips with warm water and soap, then rinse them, when they become dirty or a residue has built up. The nature of rubber and rubber compounds makes them susceptible to excessive heat and when they're left in high or dry heat they can crack and dry out. It is recommended that you not leave your golf clubs in these conditions for extended periods of time whenever possible.
